10,080 minutes are in a week. What do you do with all those minutes? Sleep, eat, talk, work, listen, shop, drive…exercise? Isn’t exercise number one on your list?! Researchers recommend that we all put in at least 150 minutes of exercise a week. (6) That’s just
- 2 and a half hours a week.
- 5 sessions of 30 minutes a week.
- 10 sessions of 15 minutes a week.
It is not that much, but we need to schedule it into our busy lives, don’t we? Even your Williamson chiropractor needs to do that! Time goes by so fast for all of us, including time for your Williamson chiropractic physician at Apple Country Chiropractic. Your Williamson chiropractic physician at Apple Country Chiropractic encourages Williamson chiropractic patients to keep up their exercise routines even when they are feeling better and their back pain is better.
Benefits of Exercise
Exercise allows people to be happier, less depressed and sleep better. (1,2) Williamson chiropractic patients do, too! Hearts and minds are healthier when their owners exercise. (3,4) Just take a walk down your Williamson street, and see how much clearer you think and healthier you feel with your heart pumping. Exercise slows memory loss. (4) Exercise reduces depressive symptoms. (2) Blood pressure falls. (5) Life span may even expand due to heart workouts with aerobic exercise. (3) Apple Country Chiropractic sees lots of positives from all of these!
Exercise is life-giving. Exercise is life-supporting. Exercise is all that for normal spine folks but even more significant for Williamson back pain sufferers especially for Williamson post-back surgery patients who still have back pain. Post-surgical patients who exercise 150 minutes a week show a remarkable decrease in pain and reoperation rate states a new study of post-surgery back pain patients. In this study the mean age was 57 years of age. 80% of them had degenerative diagnoses. 63% had gone through a multilevel back surgery. Only 35% of them met the greater than 1400 kcal per week exercise expenditure and left them vulnerable to a second surgery (named a revision surgery). Only 26% of post back surgery patients met the more than 150 minutes a week of exercise leaving them open to degenerative diagnoses, subsequent spine surgery, and more postoperative back pain. (6) 150 minutes a week doesn’t sound like much anymore, does it? Apple Country Chiropractic knows our Williamson chiropractic patients can schedule 2.5 hours a week for their back’s sake. It's part of the whole Williamson treatment plan of chiropractic care.
